Popit, an Espoo, Finland-based startup working on a wearable device that functions as pill reminder, announced raising a €1.2M ($1.4M) seed investment in a financing round led by Butterfly Ventures.

The backers include also six un-named private investors and Tekes, the Finnish Funding Agency for Innovation. The funding consists of an investment and a loan, and will be used for bringing the company's device, Popit Sense, to market.

Popit, led by CEO Teemu Piirainen, is working on a pill reminder solution via a device that is attached to a regular pill sheet and which automatically detects when a pill has been popped. The company estimates that its smart pill reminder solution will be available in Q2 2018.
